Phantom dropped Sui: how to move to Slush safely
Short version: Your Sui stuff isn’t gone. Phantom only stopped showing it. Your coins are still on the Sui network, and whoever has your recovery phrase still controls them. Here’s how to get them back on screen in Slush without getting scammed along the way.
Read this first. Phantom says it will never message you first, never ask for your recovery phrase, and never offer to move your funds for you. Slush won’t either, and neither will Sui Harbor. If someone DMs you offering “migration help,” it’s a scam. Every time.
What actually happened
- Aug 24, 2026: Phantom announced it would drop Sui support.
- Sept 24, 2026: Sui support ended. In Phantom you can no longer see, send or swap anything on Sui, and apps you connected to through Phantom on Sui don’t work anymore.
- What didn’t change: Phantom is a self-custody wallet. Your assets live on the Sui blockchain and are controlled by your recovery phrase, not by Phantom. Phantom says there’s no deadline to get them back.
Think of it like this: Phantom was one window looking into your vault. They closed the window, but the vault and your key are still there. Slush is a new window.
Why Slush?
Slush is the wallet made by Mysten Labs, the team that built Sui. Phantom’s own help page points people to it. It works as a browser extension (Chrome, Brave, Arc, Firefox), an iPhone app, an Android app, and a web app at slush.app.
You don’t have to use Slush. Any Sui wallet that takes a standard recovery phrase will work. This guide uses Slush because it’s the one Phantom and Sui point to.
Step 0: Get Slush from the real place only
Fake wallet apps and lookalike sites are the #1 way people lose money during a switch like this.
- Do: Go to slush.app by typing it yourself, or use the links on sui.io/get-started.
- Do: On your phone, follow the App Store / Google Play link from slush.app. Don’t search the store and grab the first result.
- Don’t: Don’t click “Slush” links from DMs, replies, Telegram groups, or ads.
- Don’t: Never type your recovery phrase into a website called something like “Phantom Sui migration,” “wallet sync,” or “claim your SUI.” Real migration doesn’t need a website.
Two ways to move: pick one
Option A: Bring your old wallet into Slush (what Phantom recommends)
You type your existing Phantom recovery phrase into Slush. Same wallet, new app.
- In Phantom: Settings → Security & Privacy → Show Recovery Phrase.
- Write it on paper, in order. Keep it offline. No screenshots, no notes app, no email to yourself, no cloud.
- Open Slush (from slush.app) and choose the option to import an existing wallet with a recovery phrase.
- Enter your phrase right into the Slush app. Your Sui address and your assets should show up on their own.
- Check it: the address in Slush should match your old Sui address from Phantom.
- Did you add extra wallets to Phantom with a separate phrase or private key? Each one has to be brought over separately.
- Reconnect any Sui apps you used, this time with Slush.
Pros
- Fastest. No sending, no fees, no risk of a typo in an address.
- Same address, so anything tied to it (staking, app positions, NFTs) stays put.
- This is the official path Phantom gives.
Cons
- Your phrase has now been in two apps. If it was ever exposed (a screenshot, a cloud note, a phishing site), that risk comes with it.
- The same phrase also controls your Phantom wallets on other networks (Solana, Ethereum, and so on). One phrase, many vaults.
Option B: Start a fresh Slush wallet and send your stuff over
You make a brand-new wallet in Slush (with a new recovery phrase, or by signing in with Google or Apple) and send your assets to it from your old wallet.
Catch: Phantom can’t send on Sui anymore. So to do this, you’d still have to open your old wallet somewhere that supports Sui (for example, by importing it into Slush as a second account, as in Option A) and then send from it to your new wallet.
- In Slush, create a new account. Back up the new phrase on paper, or use the Google/Apple sign-in option.
- Bring in your old wallet as a separate account (Option A steps).
- Send a small test amount from the old account to the new one first. Confirm it arrives.
- Send the rest. Keep a little SUI in the old account if you still need to pay network fees there.
- If you staked SUI in the old wallet, see “Staked SUI” below before you move anything.
Pros
- A clean start with a phrase that’s never been anywhere else. Good if you’re not 100% sure your old phrase stayed private.
- Keeps your Sui money separate from your Phantom wallets on other networks.
Cons
- More steps, small network fees, and you need to get the address right (do a test send first).
- New address, so any app positions tied to the old one have to be closed or moved first.
Our take: For most people, Option A is fine and simplest. If you’ve ever typed your phrase into a website, saved it in a photo or cloud note, or just feel uneasy, use Option B.
What about staked SUI?
Staked SUI belongs to your wallet’s address on the Sui network, not to the Phantom app. If you use Option A (same phrase, same address), your stake should show up in Slush, and you can manage or unstake it there.
If you want to move to a fresh wallet (Option B), you’ll generally need to unstake in the old account first, then send the SUI. (Heads up: we haven’t yet confirmed with an official Phantom or Slush source that staked SUI appears in Slush after import. That’s based on how Sui works: the stake belongs to your address. Check your staked balance in Slush before you unstake or move anything. We’ll update this guide once it’s confirmed.)
The five rules (screenshot these)
- Nobody legit will ever ask for your recovery phrase. Not Phantom, not Slush, not “support,” not us.
- Nobody legit DMs you first to “help migrate.”
- Get Slush from slush.app only.
- Your phrase goes on paper, not on a screen. The only screen it should ever touch is the wallet app itself.
- There’s no deadline. Anyone rushing you (“migrate in 24 hours or lose your SUI!”) is lying.
Quick FAQ
Is my SUI gone? No. It’s on the Sui network, controlled by your phrase.
Do I have to hurry? No. Phantom says there’s no deadline to get your assets back.
Phantom imports showed nothing / wrong address? Check that every word is correct and in the right order. One wrong word gives you a completely different (empty) wallet.
Can I just keep everything in Phantom? You can’t see or move anything on Sui through Phantom anymore. You need a wallet that supports Sui.
